Nokia N91: Nokia N91 was released way back in April 2005. Since then the cell phone got respectable number of buyers. But even then, N91 is being somewhat pin down by its Sony Ericsson and LG rivals.
The cell phone is a bulky slider. We said bulky because the silvery N91 got its physical size as at 4.4 by 2.2 by 0.9 inches and 5.8 ounces and weight just below 6 ounces. Even then, it is constructed so well, it still looks awesome in hands.
N91 has music control buttons just below the screen. Left spine contains volume control, USB port and a speaker. The opposite has place for menu button and a back cover removing button.
The diagonally measured 2.2 inch screen shows 262K colors and the very good quality. However the resolution of 176x208 appears to be a little less than we expected to have before the cell arrived in market.
Nokia engineers tried to make N91 more "Music player" than "cam coder" so more emphasis was over its sound quality and storage capabilities. To support MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, Real, WAV, WMA, and MPEG file formats is enough for a multimedia cell phone. For the storage, we got a massive 4GB of space in the device we previously called as 'bulky'. We haven't called it anymore after we found more than 3000 music file storage capability in 4GB.
The quality of 2Mega pixel camera is obvious. However it comes without any flash. Video recording capability is there.
All the other features were same as the previous N series assembly line. Bluetooth, USB connection, Wi fi, and rich set of applications offered by Symbian OS.
We found the tri band N91 to run for 4 hours while talking and 8 days on standby mode while the battery was charged to the full.
The overall performance of N91 is good but we found this to be a major con that there was only one speaker in a cell phone meant for music playing. Anyways if one cam compromise on this, he would certainly be complaining the huge price of $600.
